The Pioneers - Royal Holloway College

I remember seeing it when it was placed at the entrance to the Student Union building. We had to walk past it and it dwarfed us. I had a photo once of myself standing next to it.
Last I heard was it got disappeared. Mysteriously nicked by persons unknown.

Does anyone know - was it ever recovered?

The reason I write is this piece of possibly unrelated news that I heard recently.
There is a pub in Earls Court, London, called the Polar Bear. I have never been there but I hear tell that they had a stuffed bear on the bar for about 2 decades.
Sadly the bear got a fungus growing in the fur and due to health and safety considerations it was disposed of. Any more details unknown.
Could this have been the demise of our unfortunate long lost bear?
